Thomas McDonough, MD
Dr. McDonough has lived and practiced in the Aurora and Parker area for more than 25 years. He has had the opportunity to treat many patients, both adult and children over that time span. Seeing patients recover from injury and return to an active lifestyle has been the most rewarding aspect of his practice. Dr. McDonough works with children and adults in trauma, fracture management, and sports medicine, using both operative and non-operative approaches.
He takes a conservative approach to helping patients heal, without surgery whenever possible. He and his staff work with each patient to create a personalized recovery plan, incorporating both conventional and newer approaches when appropriate to help them return to an active lifestyle. They pride themselves on accessibility and personal attention to all of their patients, talking through all available options.
Before entering private practice in Colorado, Dr. McDonough served in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years. He first served as Chief of Flight Medicine at England AFB, in Louisiana, and later as Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Mather AFB, in California. In 1991, Dr. McDonough was deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm.
The mechanical aspects of orthopedics appealed to Dr. McDonough during his training. "Orthopedics is very clear cut,” he says. “The best part of my job is helping people get well. When they are injured, I can confidently tell they are going to get better."
